The simplicity of the editing and transitions in the introduction to the film really allows the viewer to immerse themselves into the storyline. While the editing is simple, we, as the audience, can tell how the different cuts and transitions contribute to the storyline. In the first minute or so, we see a group therapy discussion, with the camera doing straight cuts to follow whoever is talking. This immerses us, making us feel like we're apart of the discussion. The camera follows Darby around which shows the audience that she's the main focus of this story, separating her from the rest of the patients. There are multiple scenes that use action match that turn a simple scene, such as Darby on a phone call, complex by making the audience focus on different elements of the bigger picture.
